How it works

What is the ProRes 4444 file from DollFX?
A QuickTime MOV encoded with ProRes 4444 so the clip keeps an alpha channel. Drop it into Premiere, After Effects, Final Cut, or DaVinci Resolve and the background stays transparent.
Why not just use the GIF in an editor?
GIF transparency is 1-bit and the color palette is limited. ProRes 4444 keeps a real alpha channel and more color, which is what editors expect for overlays and comps.
Can I play the MOV in a browser?
Usually no. Browsers do not play ProRes. Use the GIF for web and chat. Use the MOV in an editor. If ProRes is not available in your browser, we may fall back to another alpha-capable QuickTime codec.
